Warner Bros. Discovery Announces Shark Week 2026 Specials with K‑Pop, Chum Island and New Shark Research

Warner Bros. Discovery has unveiled its Shark Week 2026 programming slate, beginning on Sunday 16 August. The lineup, streamed in Australia via Binge, Foxtel and Fetch, opens with “K‑Pop Shark Heroes” starring actor‑comedian Ken Jeong and GRAMMY‑nominated artist Rei Ami, aimed at reshaping shark perceptions across East Asia.

Other specials include “Ultimate Shark Dive” featuring Red Bull high‑diver Molly Carlson’s free‑fall into the deepest shark cage ever deployed, “Jurassic Sharks” using AI to recreate extinct species, and “How to Train a Great White” where marine biologist Tristan Guttridge studies shark cognition in New Zealand. A “Jaws vs Orca” episode investigates killer‑whale attacks on boats in the Strait of Gibraltar.

A newly announced episode, “Chum Island: Catching a Killer,” slated for 28 July, dramatizes a surge of aggressive shark attacks off Australia’s southern coast. Marine biologist Dr. Riley Elliott builds a “chum island” to lure and identify the suspected sharks, presenting the first‑ever investigation of a potentially new shark population.
