Warner Bros Discovery Q2 earnings dip as film slate falters and NBA broadcast loss

Warner Bros Discovery reported second‑quarter results that missed market expectations. Revenue from its film division fell 39%, with titles such as *Mortal Kombat II* and *Supergirl* failing to match the box‑office success of previous hits like *A Minecraft Movie* and *Sinners*. Advertising revenue dropped 22% as the company lost NBA broadcast rights and linear TV viewership continued to decline in the United States. Revenue from its television networks, which include CNN, fell 17%.

Operating expenses were reduced by 23% thanks to the absence of NBA rights costs and lower content‑production spending, allowing the company to post adjusted earnings of six cents per share, beating analysts’ forecasts. Management said it remains optimistic for the second half of the year, citing a slate of upcoming releases such as *Digger* and *Dune: Part Three* that are expected to lift box‑office receipts.
