Warner Bros. releases Practical Magic 2 amid 25-year box office slump

Warner Bros. is releasing the legacy sequelPractical Magic 2’ as the studio navigates its most significant box office slump in 25 years. In 2026, the company has yet to produce a film that exceeds $100 million in domestic gross, a trend not seen since 2001.

The $75 million production is projected to have a four-day domestic opening of between $30 million and $35 million. The film serves as a sequel to the 1998 supernatural romantic drama.

This period of underperformance follows the release of ‘The End of Oak Street’, which earned $51.7 million domestically against an $80 million budget. The studio is looking toward upcoming releases such as ‘The Cat in the Hat’ in November and ‘Dune: Part Three’ in December to bolster its performance.
