Warner Bros. releases ‘The End of Oak Street’ on digital following low box office

Warner Bros. has released the film ‘The End of Oak Street’ on digital platforms just 30 days after its theatrical debut. The decision follows a disappointing box office performance. The film, produced by J. J. Abrams’ Bad Robot, has grossed approximately $118.4 million worldwide against an estimated budget of $85 million. To reach a break-even point, the film likely needed to earn roughly $212.5 million.

Directed by David Robert Mitchell, the movie stars Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor as parents in a 1982 suburban neighborhood that is suddenly transported to the age of dinosaurs. Despite a high Rotten Tomatoes score of 86%, the film’s commercial results prompted the rapid digital transition. This release marks the final Bad Robot production under the studio’s current first-look deal, which expires at the end of the year.
