Warner Chappell notifies Renan Santos campaign over unauthorized music use

Warner Chappell has issued an extrajudicial notification to the presidential campaign of Renan Santos (Missão) regarding the unauthorized use of the song ‘Bete Balanço’, composed by Cazuza and Frejat. The publisher claims the campaign used the track in social media election advertisements without legal permission, violating electoral legislation.

The campaign recently released a jingle titled ‘Vote na Onça’, which serves as a parody of the original song. Warner Chappell identified four specific posts linked to the candidate using the music. Following the notification, Instagram reported that the soundtrack had been removed from one of the posts. The publisher has requested that the campaign contact them within 48 hours to avoid administrative and judicial measures intended to cease the use and seek compensation for unauthorized usage.
