Warner Music acquires Catalan music label Halley Records
Warner Music has acquired Halley Records, a prominent Barcelona-based independent label known for its significant influence on the Catalan music scene. While the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, the acquisition marks the end of independence for the label, which was founded in 2015 through the merger of Èxits Management, Lizardqueen Music, and Vibra.
The label manages a major catalog of Catalan artists, including Oques Grasses, The Tyets, Txarango, Els Catarres, and Figa Flawas. Under the new structure, the legal entity will be renamed Cosmic Sound S.L., though it will continue to operate under the Halley Records commercial brand. The founders—Marc Isern Rabella, Ixent Sampietro Barnola, and Maria Blay Alegre—will exit the company and no longer hold shares or management roles.
A new board of directors has been established, chaired by Andrés Rothschild, who also serves as the president of Warner Music Iberia. The founders stated that the goal of this union is to strengthen the position of Catalan music on both national and international stages, providing more resources for promotion and distribution while maintaining a licensing model that ensures artists retain ownership of their masters.
