Warren Buffett reportedly claims he has not drunk water in 48 years

Billionaire investor Warren Buffett has reportedly claimed that he has not consumed water for 48 years, according to anecdotes shared by hedge fund manager Bill Ackman. During a recent episode of the ‘Equity Mates Investing’ podcast, Ackman recounted a dinner he hosted for Buffett years ago. When offered still or sparkling water, Buffett allegedly declined, requesting Cherry Coke instead, and remarked, “Bill, I haven’t had water for 48 years.”

While the comment is an undated recollection and may not reflect Buffett’s current daily habits, his preference for soft drinks is well-documented. Buffett has previously stated that Coca-Cola makes up approximately one-quarter of his daily caloric intake, noting that he consumes about five 12-ounce cans per day.

His preference for Cherry Coke followed a 48-year period of loyalty to Pepsi, which he officially ended in 1986. This personal preference has also aligned with his investment strategy: Berkshire Hathaway has maintained a significant stake in Coca-Cola since the mid-1990s. An initial investment of approximately $1.3 billion has grown to an estimated value of $28 billion.
