Warren Buffett's $28 B Alphabet Stake Signals Tech Shift

Berkshire Hathaway, led by 95‑year‑old investor Warren Buffett, has confirmed a roughly $28 billion position in Alphabet Inc., the parent company of Google. Buffett disclosed that the firm covertly acquired about 17.85 million shares—valued at nearly $5 billion at the time of the November 2025 filing—making Alphabet one of Berkshire’s five largest equity holdings. He emphasized that the decision was his own, not delegated to portfolio managers.

Alphabet continues to dominate internet services, handling over 90 % of global web searches, powering Android on about 70 % of mobile devices, and operating YouTube, Gmail and other platforms that generate consistent revenue growth. Buffett cited the company’s durable artificial‑intelligence infrastructure as a key factor in his investment, noting the firm’s robust cash‑flow and long‑term return potential despite projected large capital expenditures.
