PKP Intercity to introduce new restaurant wagons and regional menus by 2027

PKP Intercity and its catering provider, Wars, are implementing significant upgrades to railway services in Poland. A major component of this plan involves the introduction of new restaurant wagons produced by FPS H. Cegielski. The first units are expected to enter service in the first half of 2027, with a goal of increasing the fleet to 17 specialized gastronomic wagons by the end of that year. These new carriages are designed to improve both passenger comfort and staff ergonomics.

The culinary strategy includes a shift toward regional menus tailored to specific travel routes, such as offering Zakopane-inspired dishes for passengers traveling to that region. To complement traditional dining cars, the operator is expanding its use of vending machines in Combo-type carriages and planning dedicated gastronomic zones for high-speed trains.

Separately, various regional infrastructure and service updates are underway across Poland. In Szamotuły, a project has begun to revitalize the historic railway station, with completion targeted for 2029. In Jaworzno, construction is starting on a new transport hub at the Szczakowa station. Meanwhile, Radom Główny has seen a significant rise in passenger traffic, reaching over 10,000 daily users in 2025. Localized disruptions are also noted, including night-time bus replacements between Czachówek and Góra Kalwaria due to infrastructure repairs, and the expansion of paid parking zones in Gdańsk.
