Warsaw and Bydgoszcz roll out major city infrastructure upgrades

Warsaw continues its citywide program to install elevators in multi‑family buildings, targeting older and mobility‑impaired residents. The latest tender covers three historic tenements in the Praga‑Północ district (Łochowska 39, Kowieńska 21, Nieporęcka 10). The project includes both internal and external lifts, stair‑well renovations and is slated for completion by 2030. Deputy mayor Magdalena Młochowska said the initiative “responds to residents’ needs for greater accessibility in their homes.”

In Bydgoszcz, municipal officials report that more than 70 city rooftops now host photovoltaic panels, generating about 1.2 GWh of electricity per year and saving roughly 1.2 million zł annually. A new solar farm is planned for the ice‑rink roof, with a design for up to 335 modules (237 kW). The city aims to expand solar installations to schools, kindergartens and a planned kayaking centre, financed through preferential‑rate loans.
