Warsaw and Ghent film festivals announce October programmes

The Warsaw International Film Festival has announced the programme for its 42nd edition, scheduled for 9 to 18 October. The festival will feature 190 films, including 132 features and 58 shorts, across 330 screenings. The event will host 102 premieres. The opening films are ‘The Debut’, directed by Jesse Eisenberg, and ‘Growth of the Soil’ by Hans Petter Moland. The festival will conclude with John Trengove’s ‘The Smell of Apples’.

The International Competition will include 15 titles, such as ‘What Belongs to Others’ and ‘Bloody Men’. Other notable selections include European world premieres like ‘Dice-Ching-O-Mat’ and ‘Doubt’, as well as the US film ‘Confession’, set in Stalinist Moscow.

Separately, the 53rd edition of Film Fest Gent has released its programme for 7 to 18 October. The festival in Ghent will showcase over 100 feature films, 40 shorts, 2 VR projects, and 23 documentaries from 49 countries. The opening film is ‘Coward’ by Lukas Dhont, and the closing film is ‘Le Faux Soir’ by Michaël R. Roskam. The festival includes competitions for the Grand Prix for Best Film and the Georges Delerue Award.
