Warsaw Court Overturns Order for Forced Appearance of Zbigniew Ziobro

The Warsaw Court of Appeal has overturned a previous ruling regarding the forced detention and appearance of former Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro before a parliamentary investigative commission. The decision concerns a September 2025 order issued by the Warsaw District Court, which had authorized police to detain Ziobro to ensure his testimony regarding the Pegasus spyware scandal.

During the hearing on September 29, 2025, Ziobro was detained by police at Chopin Airport and brought to the Sejm, where he testified for approximately eight hours. During that session, Ziobro admitted to being the initiator of the Pegasus system purchase, though he noted that the final decision to use Justice Fund resources rested with then-Deputy Justice Minister Michał Wos, who was aware of Ziobro’s intentions.

The Court of Appeal's decision follows an appeal filed by Ziobro’s legal representative against the District Court's original order.
