Warsaw evacuation: 4,000 people moved due to unexploded ordnance

Thousands of people were evacuated in central Warsaw following the discovery of unexploded ordnance during construction work near the intersection of Grzybowska and Żelazna streets. Approximately 4,000 residents from eight buildings were moved to safety as a precaution.

Sapper units were deployed to secure the items, which are believed to be artillery shells dating back to World War II. The scale of the threat necessitated a 400-meter safety zone around the site. The operation caused significant disruptions to public transportation, forcing bus lines 106 and 157 to use detour routes.
