Warsaw implements new speed cameras and road maintenance measures

The Warsaw Municipal Roads Authority (ZDM) is intensifying efforts to improve road safety and infrastructure maintenance in the capital. In August 2026, the ZDM Road Emergency Service responded to 6,009 reports regarding issues such as damaged surfaces, faulty traffic signals, and street lighting malfunctions. Of these, 83 incidents required immediate intervention. The unit manages an 800 km road network, utilizing community reports via the Warszawa 19 115 system alongside regular inspections.

To combat high-speed driving, the ZDM has launched a tender for new speed cameras and average speed measurement systems following approval from the General Inspectorate of Road Transport (GITD). The initiative aims to address dangerous speeding trends on major arteries, such as Aleja Solidarności and Aleja Wilanowska, where drivers have been recorded significantly exceeding limits. New camera locations are planned for Al. Wilanowska, Al. Solidarności, Al. Niepodległości, ul. Wóycickiego, Most Gdański, and Al. Armii Ludowej, with installations targeted for completion within the year.
