Warsaw installs smart electricity meters amid scheduled power outages

The municipal electricity distributor in Warsaw is replacing conventional meters with smart devices that support remote reading and detailed consumption data. Installation is free for residents and often requires no presence at the premises. The rollout is part of a nationwide modernization of Poland's energy system, aiming to improve billing accuracy and enable better usage planning.

From 20 to 23 July, planned electricity interruptions will affect several districts, including Mokotów, Praga‑Południe and Wawer, as the network is expanded and underground cable connections are removed. Residents are advised to charge phones and power banks, prepare flashlights and safeguard sensitive equipment. The operator notes that schedules may change and outages could be cancelled without prior notice.
