Poland launches multiple transport upgrades amid heat‑induced infrastructure disruptions

Polish authorities have announced a series of infrastructure projects aimed at improving safety and capacity across the country. The city of Rzeszów issued a public tender to replace eleven damaged glass panels on its iconic WOŚP footbridge, with offers due by July 13, 2026. In Wałbrzych, extreme heat warped railway tracks, suspending train services between Wałbrzych Główny and Wałbrzych Miasto until repairs can be completed. Łódzkie officials opened a tender for a new 3.17 km bypass around Miedzna Drewniana to divert transit traffic from the town centre, with construction slated to finish by 2030. Roadworks on DK52 near Kozienice will introduce a temporary one‑lane traffic regime and a pedestrian crossing. The A2 motorway between Łódź and Warsaw will be widened from two to three lanes per direction, with speed limits reduced to 70‑90 km/h during the multi‑year project.
