Warsaw mayor approves severance for dismissed South Hospital executives amid salary scandal

The former president and former medical director of Warsaw's South Hospital were dismissed in June following revelations about doctor Dawid Kacprzyk's annual earnings of 1.6 million zl. Despite their removal, the officials received severance payments of 66 000 zl and 63 000 zl respectively, equal to three months of salary, as confirmed by the city hall. Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski ordered the personnel changes after media exposed a VIP waiting room for politicians and a private funeral business operating in the hospital.

Separate reports detail Kacprzyk’s background: a 30‑year‑old physician and former civic activist who worked long hours at the South Hospital and the neighboring Bródnowski Hospital. He returned part of his earnings to the facilities and pursued an academic career, co‑authoring four scientific papers in early 2024 while planning a doctorate. His collaborations included former hospital president Artur Krawczyk and senator Agnieszka Gorgoń‑Komor.
