Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski Faces Recall Signature Drive

On Thursday, activist Maciej Wilk announced the launch of a city‑wide signature‑gathering campaign aimed at triggering a referendum to remove Warsaw’s mayor, Rafał Trzaskowski.

The initiative, called “Stołeczna Operacja Referendalna,” seeks to collect roughly 132 000 valid signatures by 28 September. Several hundred volunteers are operating from 15‑30 collection points across more than ten districts of the capital.

Organisers stress that the effort is a fully civic, non‑partisan response to public discontent, noting that an estimated half a million residents might support the referendum following recent controversy at the South Hospital.
