Warsaw plumber accused of serial murders of elderly women

A 43-year-old plumber, Michał P., is accused of a series of murders and robberies targeting elderly women in Warsaw. He is charged with six murders, including a double homicide of two sisters, and a robbery that resulted in a seventh death. Investigators believe he used his profession to gain access to the homes of solitary women, building trust before returning to rob and kill them.

His arrest in February 2025 followed a dramatic incident where a bank employee overheard a victim being strangled during an open phone call while she was attempting to change her PIN. Police found the suspect on a balcony directly below the victim's apartment.

Authorities are currently investigating whether other deaths of elderly individuals, previously attributed to natural causes, are linked to the suspect. Police also noted that approximately 75,000 photographs were found on his phone, some of which depict stolen items that have not yet been linked to known victims. In some attacks, Michał P. allegedly acted alongside two Ukrainian citizens, Taras H. and Ihor H. Both men are currently in custody.
