Police raid Independence March organizer's home following false report
Seven armed police officers wearing bulletproof vests and carrying shields entered the Warsaw residence of Bartosz Malewski, president of the Independence March association and a lawyer, on Saturday, October 24. The intervention was triggered by a report on an online platform claiming a murder had been committed and that the individual intended to take their own life.
Upon arrival, officers determined the report was entirely false. Malewski expressed shock at the scale of the response, noting that the incident appeared to be a deliberate attempt to use law enforcement as a tool for intimidation. He suggested the false report could be a provocation by foreign services aimed at destabilizing the country and undermining trust in the police.
The Warsaw Metropolitan Police confirmed the report was false and stated that a notification has been filed regarding the reporting of a non-existent crime and violations of personal data protection laws.
