Warsaw police rescue Slovak woman held against her will
Polish police in Warsaw have rescued a 23-year-old Slovak woman who was being held against her will for over a week. The woman was discovered in a hotel in the Wawer district after her mother alerted Slovak authorities, expressing fears that her daughter was being detained by several men.
Investigations suggest the woman originally left Slovakia to seek work in Ukraine. After the initial job opportunity fell through, she was offered a different position that required traveling through Poland. During her transit, she was allegedly forced to work in a fraudulent call center, had her travel documents confiscated, and faced threats of physical violence.
Authorities detained five individuals during the operation: three Slovak citizens and two Ukrainian citizens. Two of the Slovaks and both Ukrainians have been charged with deprivation of liberty and have been placed in three-month investigative detention following a prosecutor's request.
