Warsaw prepares metro and buses for emergency evacuations

Warsaw is implementing emergency evacuation plans, which include preparing the metro system to serve as a shelter and ordering 120 buses specifically equipped to transport individuals on stretchers.

The Warsaw State Fire Service emphasizes the importance of residents using the ‘Gdzie się ukryć’ (Where to hide) tool to locate nearby shelters. Officials note that availability varies, as some locations are accessible 24 hours a day, while others are only open during specific hours or operate on a mutual aid basis.

Authorities advise citizens, particularly those with children, seniors, or people with disabilities, to verify the accessibility of these locations—such as the presence of stairs—and the type of protection offered (shelters, hiding places, or temporary refuge) before an emergency occurs.
