Warsaw public transport issues with new Otokar hybrid buses

New Otokar Kent C Mild Hybrid buses in Warsaw are experiencing dangerous door malfunctions. Despite being part of a ten-year contract between the Public Transport Authority (ZTM) and the private company Mobilis, the fleet of over 50 vehicles has faced significant technical issues within two months of their September 2026 debut.

Drivers and passengers report that the middle doors open and close uncontrollably. Furthermore, the automatic reversal system, designed to retract the doors upon encountering resistance, has failed in several instances, leading to passengers being pinched.

ZTM has had to order the immediate removal of the faulty buses from service 15 times. The authority is currently imposing penalties on the carrier and demanding a formal repair plan to address what appears to be a recurring electronic or structural defect.
