Warsaw recognized in global transport ranking and improves accessibility
Warsaw has been recognized in a global ranking of public transport systems conducted by Time Out magazine. The survey, which included over 24,000 participants, assessed resident satisfaction with urban mobility.
In addition to its ranking, Warsaw is implementing significant accessibility improvements for residents with visual impairments. The city is modernizing its transport infrastructure by introducing high-contrast tactile paths, warning strips, and bright yellow handrails and handles in buses and trams.
To assist navigation, the city has deployed an extensive system of audio announcements in buses, trams, and the metro. These announcements provide information on upcoming stops and safety warnings, such as notifying passengers when a tram stop is located on a roadway. Furthermore, 'on-demand' buttons in vehicles are being equipped with Braille to ensure greater independence for blind and partially sighted commuters.
