Warsaw referendum organizers collect 82,000 signatures to recall city leadership

Organizers of the Stołeczna Operacja Referendalna (SOR) are intensifying efforts to collect signatures for a referendum aimed at removing Warsaw's city authorities, including Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski and the Warsaw City Council. As of early September, the initiative has gathered 82,000 signatures.

With three weeks remaining in the collection period, organizers are launching a large-scale postal campaign. Approximately 400,000 referendum cards are being distributed to residents across 11 Warsaw districts. The distribution strategy was determined by analyzing electoral data down to the level of individual polling stations. Organizers expect this postal action alone to yield an additional 40,000 signatures.

In addition to the mail campaign, volunteers in orange vests are conducting street collections throughout the city. Maciej Wilk, the initiator of the action, stated that the group is preparing for a “piorunujący finisz” (thunderous finish), noting that the most decisive collection channels are only now entering the final phase of the operation.
