Poland expands railway infrastructure and long-distance connectivity plans

Poland is undergoing significant railway infrastructure developments and long-term connectivity planning. The Ministry of Infrastructure has outlined strategic rail connection goals for 2031 and 2034, specifically targeting the Podkarpacie region. Planned routes include direct connections from major cities like Warsaw, Wrocław, and Kraków to destinations such as the Bieszczady Mountains, Lublin, and the Baltic Sea coast. For towns like Nowa Dęba, these plans envision expanded services to Warsaw, Przemyśl, and potentially Gdynia.

Simultaneously, physical infrastructure upgrades are underway. In Unisław Śląski, PKP PLK is renovating a railway tunnel on the line connecting Wałbrzych to the Czech border. The project involves widening the tunnel to accommodate higher speeds and preparing it for future electrification. While recent demolition work at the tunnel entrance caused social media concern, officials clarified that the work is a planned part of the 'design and build' process.

Additionally, the Central Communication Port (CPK) project is expected to impact the Podlaskie region through the introduction of high-speed rail.
