Poland experiences series of school attacks in one week

Poland is facing a wave of violence following three separate attacks at educational institutions within a single week. The most recent incident occurred on Saturday, October 10, in Warsaw, where a 21-year-old woman used a dangerous object to attack three people at a private post-secondary school in the Praga district. The victims, aged 17, 17, and 24, were submitting enrollment documents when the attack took place. The 17-year-old victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

This follows two earlier incidents in the Mazovia province. On October 7, a 19-year-old student attacked people at a vocational school in Ostrołęka, injuring nine individuals. On October 8, a 15-year-old attacker entered a primary school in Leszczydół-Nowiny, killing a 37-year-old caretaker and wounding two others.

In response, Polish authorities conducted a massive security operation, inspecting nearly 50,000 schools nationwide and detaining dozens of individuals. While investigators have looked into whether social media challenges triggered the violence, Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated there is no evidence of a large-scale organized threat, suggesting the incidents may be spontaneous actions driven by a growing fascination with violence among youth. Authorities have not confirmed a direct link between the three attacks.
