Warsaw South Hospital scandal draws political criticism from former mayor and coalition MP

Former Warsaw mayor Marcin Święcicki said that demanding the resignation of city mayor Rafał Trzaskowski over the South Hospital scandal is "grubą przesadą i przejawem czystego populizmu" (pure populism). He urged waiting for the prosecutor’s investigation before taking any personnel actions, stressing that responsibility should fall on those directly involved in the irregularities, such as the former coordinator of the prosectorium Artur Habowski, who was dismissed after allegations of trading bodies and funeral services.

In a separate interview, Coalition MP Robert Kropiwnicki defended former South Hospital director Emil Jędrzejewski, calling the media narrative of his “compromise” absurd. He noted that Jędrzejewski initially refused to testify without a lawyer but later appeared with representation, and argued that the criticism was unfounded, stating “Nie wierzę to.” Both pieces highlight the political debate surrounding accountability for the hospital’s alleged misconduct.
