Warsaw Stock Exchange implements new GPW WATS transaction system

The Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW) has successfully implemented its new GPW WATS transaction system. Following the retirement of the UTP system, which had been in operation for over 13 years, the new system began working on October 5. The first four sessions proceeded without unplanned interruptions, handling 1.02 million transactions, 74.4 million orders, and a turnover of 9.4 billion PLN.

To mark this transition and the exchange's 35th anniversary, a new stock exchange bell has been introduced. The bell features a design incorporating the WIG index chart, symbolizing the growth of the Polish market since 1991. GPW President Tomasz Bardziłowski described the upgrade as the beginning of a ‘new era of innovation’ for the exchange, noting that the new system offers increased speed and higher order throughput.
