Warsaw Stock Exchange prepares for new WATS system and potential PayPo IPO
The Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW) is preparing to launch a new trading infrastructure called the Warsaw Automated Trading System (WATS) on October 5, 2026. This system, developed by GPW, will replace the current UTP system provided by NYSE Technologies. The migration is scheduled for the weekend of October 3–4, 2026, and all unexecuted orders from the close of business on October 2 will be canceled.
To ensure stability, the exchange will closely monitor the first four trading sessions from October 5 to October 8. GPW has established contingency plans, including the possibility of reverting to the UTP system or, in an extreme scenario, suspending trading for up to a week.
Separately, the fintech company PayPo is considering an initial public offering (IPO) on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The company's valuation could exceed 2 billion PLN. PayPo has reported significant financial growth, with 2025 assets reaching 1.1 billion PLN and net profit increasing by 73.4% in the previous fiscal year to 181.4 million PLN. The company is currently led by founder and CEO Radosław Nawrocki, with NRW Ventures ASI holding nearly 49% of shares.
