Warsaw Stock Exchange sees high activity amid index revisions and market consolidation
The Polish stock market experienced significant activity driven by index revisions and market consolidation. During the September GPW index revisions, BETA ETF funds executed transactions exceeding 70 million PLN. Despite the WIG20TR and mWIG40TR compositions remaining largely unchanged, the process required rolling over more than 2,900 futures contracts and managing trades across various index segments, including sWIG80TR and WIGdivplus W.
In broader market movements, the WIG20 index saw a marginal gain of 0.09 percent, while the WIG index rose by 0.17 percent. Total market turnover reached 2.64 billion PLN. The session was marked by record intraday highs for the WIG20 near 4,242 points and the WIG near 159,113 points. While companies like Pepco and Modivo led gains, energy stocks such as PGE and Tauron faced declines. Technical analysis suggests a period of consolidation as the market navigates psychological barriers and uncertainty regarding future trends.
