Warsaw to implement intelligent street lighting control system

Warsaw has signed an agreement with Emitel to implement an intelligent street lighting control system. The project involves the remote management of over 110,000 LED fixtures through a new cloud-based management system and a dedicated Lighting Management Center.

Over the next two years, intelligent controllers will be installed on city streetlights to enable real-time monitoring and automatic fault detection. This system is designed to accelerate repairs, reduce maintenance costs, and increase energy efficiency. The contract is set for an initial eight years, with an option to extend up to 13 years, with a base value of nearly 79 million PLN.

Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski noted that the initiative aims to combine modern technology with environmental protection and urban safety. Following a previous replacement of all lighting fixtures which saved approximately 60 million PLN annually, this new control system is expected to provide an additional 30 percent in energy savings.
