Warsaw to install six new speed cameras at high-risk locations

Warsaw is expanding its speed control system by installing six new speed cameras following safety analyses and speed measurements. The city has already obtained the necessary approvals from the Main Inspectorate of Road Transport (GITD) and has opened a tender for the installation, with bids due by October 1.

The new devices will be located at several key sites, including Gdański Bridge, Wilanowska Avenue, and Solidarności Avenue. Safety data indicated significant speeding issues in these areas; for instance, on Solidarności Avenue, some drivers were recorded traveling at 156 km/h, more than 2.5 times the limit. On Wilanowska Avenue, approximately 15 percent of drivers exceed the 50 km/h limit by traveling faster than 80 km/h.

Additional locations include the intersection of Niepodległości Avenue and Woronicza Street, where accidents have resulted in one death and six injuries over the last three years. A camera will also be placed on the eastern side of the Gdański Bridge to complement the existing device on the western side.
