Warsaw to invest 1 million PLN in anti-drone security system

The Warsaw Security Center plans to purchase an anti-drone system to enhance airspace security in the capital. The investment, valued at 1 million PLN, is intended to detect and classify unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Approximately 80 percent of the funding will be sourced from the Population Protection and Civil Defense Program, with the remaining 20 percent covered by the Warsaw city budget. The system is expected to be implemented within this year and will focus on monitoring the central part of the city, including key locations protected by the State Protection Service, the Chancellery of the Sejm, and municipal offices.

The decision follows an increasing number of incidents involving unknown objects entering protected zones. Currently, authorities rely heavily on witness reports, but the new system aims to provide constant monitoring and rapid registration of drone activity to shorten response times.
