Warsaw traffic disruptions and new pedestrian crossing as bridge works continue

Since August 6, road crews have narrowed the side lane of the Siekierkowski Bridge in Warsaw, closing the right lane toward Mokotów and reducing the number of lanes for drivers heading toward Mars. Speed on the narrowed section is limited to 50 km/h and a stop sign has been installed for traffic entering from Gocław. The changes have added about 20 minutes to commuters' journeys and have drawn criticism over the organization of the works.

At the same time, a new pedestrian and bicycle crossing opened at the intersection of Marszałkowska and Sienkiewicza streets at 06:00. The facility is intended to improve mobility for walkers and cyclists, shorten routes to workplaces, schools and services, and support the city’s broader plan to expand safe pedestrian and bike infrastructure while reducing car traffic and emissions.
