Warsaw uses recycled swimming pool water for street cleaning

Warsaw is utilizing recycled water from local swimming pools to clean city streets and tram tracks. This initiative, organized by the City Cleaning Authority and local pools, is currently in its seventh year.

During this year's summer technical break, 2.5 million liters of water were recovered from various facilities, including pools in Bielany, Żoliborz, and Ursus, as well as the Moczydło Water Park. Over the seven-year history of the program, a total of 16.5 million liters have been repurposed, equivalent to nearly 1,500 service vehicles.

The Volunteer Fire Department supports the operation by providing and managing the necessary pumps. The recycled water is considered safe and environmentally neutral, as it is collected only after the necessary time has passed for disinfection agents to evaporate.
