Warszawa-Modlin Airport implements Poland's first remote control tower
Warszawa-Modlin Airport is implementing Poland's first remote air traffic control tower (rTWR). This technological advancement utilizes high-precision cameras mounted at a height of 40 meters to provide controllers with a digital view of the airfield and its surroundings.
The system is designed to enhance operational safety and efficiency through features such as image integration, zoom capabilities, automatic object tracking, and infrared technology for nighttime visibility. Real-time video feeds will be sent to the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PAŻP) operational center in Warsaw, where controllers will manage traffic remotely.
In addition to increasing safety, the rTWR system is noted for being more economical than traditional towers due to lower infrastructure and maintenance costs. The scalable design allows for future expansion to meet the growing operational needs of the airport.
