Warszawska Kolej Dojazdowa completes railway traffic control modernization
Warszawska Kolej Dojazdowa (WKD) has completed a major modernization of its railway traffic control system on line no. 47. The project covered a 25 km double-track section between Podkowa Leśna Główna and Warszawa Śródmieście WKD, including four traffic posts and 16 level crossings.
The investment involved the implementation of a bidirectional, three-way automatic line block system across three routes. This new infrastructure provides a unified control system spanning from Warszawa Śródmieście WKD to Grodzisk Mazowiecki Radońska. The upgrades are designed to increase line reliability, reduce delays, and ensure more regular train services.
The modernization was supported by over 34 million PLN from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. WKD, which reported a 26 percent increase in passengers in 2025 compared to 2024, maintains a high punctuality rate of 99.48 percent.
