Wasabi cultivation expands in central Poland
A plantation of wasabi, known as Japanese horseradish, is being cultivated in the Mazowieckie region of Poland, specifically near Radom. The plant is highly valued for its intense, pungent flavor and is a staple in sushi preparation.
Due to the difficulty of cultivation, authentic wasabi can cost between 1,200 and 1,500 PLN per kilogram. Experts note that many commercial products are imitations made from a mixture of horseradish, mustard, and dyes, which lack the authentic taste, texture, color, and antibacterial properties of fresh wasabi.
