Waseca man charged with felony animal torture in Rochester

Raul Rene Gonzalez, a 29-year-old man from Waseca, has been charged with felony animal torture and misdemeanor depriving an animal of shelter following the death of a dog in Rochester, Minnesota.

According to court documents, the incident occurred in January when a dog named Snookie was left outside during sub-zero windchills. The dog was found frozen in a kennel in a garage. The investigation was prompted by a Snapchat video showing the deceased animal and witness statements alleging neglect. A witness also reported that the dog showed signs of trauma and was found in an unnatural position. Gonzalez is scheduled for his first court appearance in November.
