Waseda Ekiden in Odaiba to hold 15th charity running event

The 15th Waseda Ekiden in Odaiba is scheduled to take place on January 24, 2027, at the Symbol Promenade Park in Odaiba, Tokyo. Organized by Roots Sports Japan in collaboration with the Waseda University Alumni Association and the Waseda University Ikuo Hirayama Memorial Volunteer Center, the event serves as a charity running competition.

Originally established in 2011 to support recovery efforts following the Great East Japan Earthquake, a portion of the participation fees will be donated to the Waseda University Ikuo Hirayama Memorial Volunteer Center (WAVOC) to fund disaster recovery support activities.

The event features various categories, including a relay marathon (Ekiden) for teams of up to 10 people, individual runs, and short-distance races for children and parents. Registration is scheduled to open on September 25, 2026, and close on December 24, 2026. The event is open to the general public, including those not affiliated with Waseda University.
