Waseda University baseball manager vows intense training after defensive errors
Waseda University baseball suffered consecutive losses in the Tokyo Big6 Baseball Autumn League, most recently falling 6-8 to Rikkyo University at Jingu Stadium. The defeat was marked by five defensive errors, including a critical two-error sequence in the eighth inning that allowed Rikkyo to score three runs.
Manager Satoru Komiyama, who is set to step down at the end of this season, expressed deep dissatisfaction with the team's performance. He attributed the defensive lapses to a lack of leadership and emphasized that fundamental fielding should be a given. To prepare for the upcoming Waseda-Keio rivalry games starting November 7, Komiyama vowed to implement rigorous, ‘Spartan’ training sessions, stating he intends to have the players practice until they are exhausted.
