Washington Capitals permit Ivan Miroshnichenko to seek trade
The Washington Capitals have granted forward Ivan Miroshnichenko permission to speak with other NHL teams regarding a potential trade. Miroshnichenko, the 20th overall pick in 2022, has struggled to secure a consistent role in the Capitals' lineup this season, appearing in only three games and scoring one goal.
Because Miroshnichenko is no longer waiver-exempt, the Capitals intend to trade him rather than placing him on waivers. Reports indicate the organization is seeking a “legit return” for the young winger and will not facilitate a move without adequate compensation.
Prior to his time with the NHL club, Miroshnichenko spent significant time with the Hershey Bears in the AHL, where he recorded 101 points in 141 games and helped the team win the 2024 Calder Cup.
