Washington Capitals players Hutson and Cristall selected for 2026 NHLPA Rookie Showcase
Defenseman Cole Hutson and forward Andrew Cristall of the Washington Capitals have been invited to the 2026 NHLPA Rookie Showcase in Chicago, scheduled for July 28‑30 at the Blackhawks Ice Center. Hutson, 20, posted 10 points (3 goals, 7 assists) in 14 NHL games after being drafted 43rd overall in the 2024 NHL Draft, while Cristall, 21, recorded 60 points (20 goals, 40 assists) in 72 AHL games with the Hershey Bears and was drafted 40th overall in 2023.
The event features more than 20 of the league’s most marketable prospects, with each of five teams, including the Capitals, fielding two players. Other participating clubs include the New York Islanders, Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks and San Jose Sharks. NHLPA Executive Director Marty Walsh said the showcase “marks an important milestone for players entering the NHL” and highlights the debut of each participant’s official rookie trading card.
The Rookie Showcase serves as an entry point into the business side of professional hockey, offering players exposure to content creation and branding opportunities as they begin their NHL careers.
