Washington Commanders add veteran cornerback Rasul Douglas

The Washington Commanders have signed veteran cornerback Rasul Douglas to a one‑year contract worth up to $3.8 million. Douglas, a former first‑round pick from Alabama, brings experience from six NFL teams, most recently a productive 2025 season with the Miami Dolphins in which he recorded 62 tackles, two interceptions and 13 pass deflections.

The signing ends persistent speculation that the team might pursue free‑agent Trevon Diggs. General manager Adam Peters said the move addresses needed improvements in the secondary, pairing Douglas with existing players Mike Sainristil, Trey Amos and Amik Robertson. The decision has been well received as a low‑risk, veteran addition for the 2026 season.
