Washington Commanders center Nick Allegretti set to return to practice
Washington Commanders offensive lineman Nick Allegretti is set to return to practice on Tuesday following a calf strain sustained during the first training camp practice. Head coach Dan Quinn noted that while Allegretti will undergo a ramp-up period, his return is vital for offensive coordination, specifically for quarterback Jayden Daniels and the surrounding guards.
Allegretti’s return shifts the competition for the starting center position, which had primarily been between rookie Matt Gulbin and former Philadelphia Eagles guard Julian Good-Jones. Good-Jones has accumulated significant live reps during camp in Allegretti’s absence.
Other injury updates include tight end John Bates, who is also expected to return to practice on Tuesday after dealing with a hamstring strain. However, cornerback Trey Amos remains sidelined from full on-field work due to an ankle injury. Amos, who is recovering from a previously fractured fibula, is currently working on the side as he continues his rehabilitation.
