Washington Commanders rookie Antonio Williams praised by Clemson coach

Washington Commanders selected third‑round wide receiver Antonio Williams, a former Clemson Tiger, in the 2025 NFL Draft. Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney lauded Williams, saying he possesses elite ball skills, route‑running and after‑catch ability comparable to former Clemson standouts such as Hunter Renfrow, Sammy Watkins and Mike Williams. Swinney told ESPN that Williams is “one of the best I’ve ever coached” and can finish plays and create separation for the Commanders, a team that is thin at receiver depth behind Terry McLaurin.

The Commanders hope Williams can start immediately and provide a reliable target for quarterback Jayden Daniels, with his route‑running expected to aid Daniels’ development in Washington’s offense.
