Stefon Diggs signs one-year, $12 million deal with Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders have signed veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs to a one-year contract worth $12 million. The move brings the four-time Pro Bowler back to his home region, as Diggs is a native of Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Diggs joins the Commanders following a season with the New England Patriots, where he recorded 85 receptions for 1,013 yards. He is expected to serve as a high-level complement to the team's established No. 1 receiver, Terry McLaurin, and provide reliable targets for quarterback Jayden Daniels.

Head coach Dan Quinn noted that Diggs' elite route-running will not only aid the offense but also provide a competitive advantage during training camp by helping defensive backs improve. While some analysts have raised questions regarding Diggs' recent injury history and past team transitions, Diggs expressed high confidence in his ability to compete, stating, "I say two on camera, but in my heart, I'm going to say [best] No. 1."
