Washington County visitor spending hits record $804.5 million

Washington County, Pennsylvania, reported record visitor spending of $804.5 million in 2025, according to a report from the state Department of Community and Economic Development and VisitPA. This represents a more than 5% increase from 2024 and a 35% rise over the last five years.

In the Greater Pittsburgh region, Washington County ranked second in overall visitor spending. The tourism economy contributed $1.368 billion in total business sales, supported 8,827 jobs, and generated $448.1 million in personal income.

These economic milestones come amid a dispute between the Washington County Tourism Promotion Agency and county commissioners. Commissioners recently voted to pause monthly hotel tax revenue payments to the agency following disagreements regarding the level of detail provided in the agency's audits.
