Washington D.C. hairstylist filmed during confrontation in apartment building
A Black hairstylist in Washington D.C. has gained online attention after a video captured a confrontation with a white couple in an apartment building lobby. The woman, identified as Nini, was waiting for a client when the couple approached her to question her presence in the building.
During the encounter, the hairstylist attempted to reassure the couple that she had permission to be there and posed no threat, stating, “I’m not going to hurt you guys. I’m not going to hurt the building.” The couple argued that building rules prohibited non-residents from being inside and suggested that residents could face fines for allowing unauthorized guests access.
The situation escalated when the man threatened to call the police to settle the matter. The hairstylist recorded the interaction, noting that she did so for her own safety. The video has since been widely shared on social media platforms like TikTok and X, sparking discussions regarding racial profiling and tenant interactions.
